Christoph Harwood founded Marksman Consulting, an environmental finance consultancy, in 2009. The aim of the business is to find the right financial solutions for environmental programmes. Sometimes Marksman works with those who are trying to solve environmental problems, at other times with those who have some of the solutions.
He has built on the experience he gained whilst at UBS, McKinsey and other ventures to provide the strategic and operational advice to clients in the finance and low carbon sectors. Much of the work to date has been working with the Energy Saving Trust and local authorities on the development of a finance and delivery solution for the energy efficiency programmes based on the incoming Green Deal legislation. This thinking has been extended to assess the role of local authorities in enabling the financing of local low carbon economies. Christoph is a member of the Climate Bonds Initiative and Marksman Consulting is part of LEEP – the Local Energy Efficiency Project – made up of Marksman Consulting, the Ecofin Research Foundation, the Energy Saving Trust and the Climate Bonds Initiative.
